BIO
Asked to describe his music:

"...I guess a lot of alternative influences, but also the big classic rock artists of the 70s and 80s... T-Rex, Bowie.. and of the grunge and industrial stuff like NIN, Silverchair, Manson. I go out of my way to make my music rough and indie. Can't tell you enough how much I hate all the perfectly produced and auto-tuned sounds of today. My beats are a little irregular, some pitch here and there.. but leave it that way. Otherwise it's not longer art, if it ever is haha..."

ERIK Careswell is a self-produced, self-engineered Canadian recording artist who does it all from his home studio. Every track, every note, every one of the 500+ songs he’s written is him—no auto-tune, no label polish, no compromises. “It may be a little grainy or pitchy or uneven… but it’s all me,” he says, and you can hear it.

Music runs in his blood. Coming from a family of performers dating back to vaudeville, ERIK picked up instruments young, discovered songwriting as a teen, and never looked back. He’s been in bands, gone solo, and ultimately took the reins on his own CDs, pioneering the internet music scene before it even had a name. His first single Undone shot up the MP3.COM charts alongside Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morissette, and Emerging became the inaugural track of MySpace’s first official podcast.

Since then, ERIK’s music has spread far beyond the web, landing on US TV shows like Dante’s Cove and The Lair, and even in films like the controversial documentary Hybristophilia. With four CDs released internationally—Flawed, Freak of Nature, A Road Less Travelled, and ENGINES—he’s already making waves. And he’s not stopping: new projects are on the way. Bold, fearless, and unapologetically himself, ERIK is an artist who refuses to play by anyone else’s rules.
